The new Channel Cat Water Taxi app recently launched, just in time for summer! I’m going to briefly outline the project for anyone considering creating an app of their own.
Who was the app for?
We recently had the pleasure of working with MetroLINK, a transit agency located in Moline, Illinois to create a new account-based mobile ticketing app for their Channel Cat Water Taxi service. The Water Taxi runs along the most dangerous section of the Mississippi River – the Rock Island Rapids – allowing passengers to enjoy the scenery safely in an open-air passenger ferryboat.
What does the app do?
The app we built enables customers to purchase and download tickets on their mobile phones. The ticket inspector has access to a counterpart app and can scan the tickets to verify their validity.
What need does the app fulfill?
It is important to consider the specific need you will fulfill when planning the creation of any new app. The new Channel Cat Water Taxi app makes purchasing tickets for the Water Taxi far more convenient for customers, and reduces cash handling and boarding time for everyone involved.

Our relevant experience
It’s often wise to choose a development company with relevant experience. The Americaneagle.com team also created the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)’s Chicago Card Plus account-based web portal, designed an app for the Chicago Auto Show that allows customers to buy tickets on their mobile devices to be scanned upon entry, and created CTA's Ventra & Ventra Mobile web portal.
