For many years, Americaneagle.com has been a prominent exhibitor at IRCE, Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition, and we are looking forward to exhibiting again this year. With our headquarters just outside Chicago, we are often asked for recommendations for the best things to do in Chicago during IRCE.
IRCE is held June 6-9th at McCormick Place West, Chicago, a great location for anyone interested in seeing the city, because it is just a short drive, transit ride or walk away from major attractions like the Magnificent Mile and The Bean. Luckily for you, June is usually a beautiful month in Chicago, often reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s. This is the perfect time to visit, with the snowy winter almost a distant memory.
If you are coming to Chicago for IRCE, your trip will be packed with learning and great ecommerce insight – but it can be a bucket-list city break too! Read on for ideas on how to make the most of your summer evenings in Chicago.
Millennium Park
Millennium Park is a must-see for any Chicago tourist, with multiple sculptures and pieces of art to explore. Get your photo taken at Cloud Gate, also known as The Bean, and marvel as the city skyline reflects off this sculpture that draws countless tourists. Crow Fountain is another piece of Millennium Park art you won’t miss. The Chicago Park District is a client of Americaneagle.com.
Laugh Out Loud at Zanies
Looking to laugh after a long day of learning? Zanies comedy club is the place to go. This Americaneagle.com client is known as Chicago’s original comedy club.
Shop the Magnificent Mile
The Magnificent Mile will provide hours of browsing fun, for anyone that loves to shop the latest trends and enjoys the busy, vibrant feel of city life.
Eat Out at Portillo’s
Enjoy an iconic Chicago hotdog from Portillo’s. Portillo’s is known for its great fast food and chocolate cake! Take a look at the Portillo’s website, designed and developed by Americaneagle.com to find your new favorite meal.
Navy Pier
No trip to Chicago is complete without a visit to Navy Pier. Ride the Ferris Wheel, take a Seadog Boat Cruise and enjoy a stroll through the Landshark Beer Garden. You can also catch a movie at the AMC Navy Pier IMAX. To find out more about the latest releases, take a look at film critic Richard Roeper’s website. Richard is a notable film critic from the Chicago Sun-Times, and Americaneagle.com had the pleasure of working with him to create his website.
You Can’t Beat the Beach
Chicago is not just a stunning city but it also home to the beautiful beach of Lake Michigan. Take a stroll along the beach or even enjoy a swim. There will be plenty of locals playing volleyball, making the most of the lake with the cityscape in the background.
Getting Around
The CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) provides a great public transit system that is easy to use and affordable. The ‘L’ can take you everywhere you need to go throughout downtown Chicago. Another fun way to get around while in Chicago is via the Chicago Water Taxi, which runs between 7 stops along the Chicago River. Chicago Water Taxi and the CTA are both clients of Americaneagle.com.
