The City of Park Ridge was one of the first Chicago area suburban municipalities to develop a Website in the mid-1990s. In redesigning the Park Ridge Website, Americaneagle.com focused on ease of navigation in incorporating large amounts of information that serve the needs of several audiences. Americaneagle.com also developed a content management system into the Website to empower non-technical administrators to manage content using simplified word-processor style tools. Through it, Website administrators are able to upload text, images, meeting minutes, and other content to the Website whenever they become available. The new site also incorporates several features designed to facilitate communication between residents and elected officials. According to Mary Ann Irvine, City Information Coordinator, improving communication across all levels was a primary goal of this project. "We have been able to give our citizens more tools to access the information they need when they need it, and to send their comments and questions to their elected officials and City staff," she said.
The resulting Website is a clean and inviting online experience with a graphic appeal that emulates the city's charming and communal atmosphere. With the expanding residential and business development in Park Ridge, the new Website will prove an increasingly popular and functional resource for the city, community members, and visitors alike.
