PARK RIDGE, IL — January 13, 2009 — Americaneagle.com, a leading Website design, development, and hosting company based in Park Ridge, IL today announced the redesign and enhancement of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Website located at www.transitchicago.com. Americaneagle.com first worked with the CTA in 2003 to build a Web-based system for the Chicago-card, the CTA's electronic pay-as-you-go farecard. Following success with this dynamic online system, the CTA chose to partner with Americaneagle.com for a second time to undergo a complete overhaul of their main site.
In an effort to improve the customer experience from the previous site, the new TransitChicago.com focuses on several key solutions—a clean new design interface, easy navigation and search capabilities, quick status updates, enhanced mobile compatibility, and improved accessibility information.
The new design features a clean and crisp design with intuitive navigation and search tools. Quick links were incorporated directly on the site's homepage, making it easy for customers to quickly access the most frequently sought information, including schedules, maps, and alerts. Indeed, riders can now easily check for important transit status updates and alerts. These updates provide timely tracking of alerts for CTA rail lines and bus routes. As an alternate option to checking the site for updates, riders can also subscribe to the TransitChicago.com RSS feeds to receive immediate notification in the event of any sort of disruption to service or in case of emergency.
For mobile users, the site is optimized to display pertinent information and content, such as schedules, bus/rail tracking, accessibility alerts, and an integrated RTA trip planner. All content, whether found on the mobile site or regular site, can be updated in real-time with the CTA's new Americaneagle.com idev® Content Management System.
Complying with accessibility guidelines was also a crucial component to the redevelopment of the site. Indeed, the CTA recently issued a press release that notes, "Improving accessibility for customers with disabilities was a key element in the design of the new site. The new site's layout and design have all been developed to follow modern Web standards, as well as meet both federal and state guidelines for accessibility."
The CTA's new Website also integrates with two e-commerce sub-sites: www.chicago-card.com and www.ctagifts.com. These sites are accessible directly from the TransitChicago.com homepage and enable CTA users to purchase farecards or CTA gifts quickly and easily.
Michael Svanascini, Chief Operating Officer at Americaneagle.com said, "We are very proud to have worked with the Chicago Transit Authority on the development of their new Website. With all the new features and functions in place, we are confident that TransitChicago.com will help better serve the needs of CTA customers."
